Information We Collect
BBQ Junkie uses Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage data such as page views, device type, and general geographic region. This helps us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We do not collect personally identifiable information through analytics.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address through our email service provider (Mailchimp). Your email is used solely to send you BBQ Junkie updates and will never be sold or shared with third parties. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
Cookies
Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique users and throttle the request rate. These cookies do not store personal information. You can opt out by disabling cookies in your browser settings or using a browser extension like Google Analytics Opt-out.
Recipe Ratings
When you rate a recipe, we store your star rating plus two values that keep ratings honest: a random ID saved in a cookie on your device, and a one-way, salted hash of your IP address. That hash can’t be reversed back into your IP, and we never store raw IP addresses. Both exist only to stop the same person or network from stuffing a recipe’s rating.
Third-Party Services
Running the site depends on a handful of outside providers for things like hosting, analytics, and storing recipe ratings. Each one handles only what it needs to and operates under its own privacy policy. We don’t sell your data or share it beyond what those providers need to keep the site working.
